Community Announcements
The SWAT download database is fully functional and contains already about 800 downloads. Another 900 files are already waiting on our server to be added to this database. Our team is working to get all downloads shown with full descriptions on the database... but that takes time. We expect to finish the work within the next few weeks. Meanwhile you can request downloads if you need stuff for Freelancer or other games. We will immediately move them to the database so you can get your download. Thx for understanding that quality work takes time.

 [FREELANCER] ASF/CSF: Conflict Resolution Techniques...
Written by: CentaurianA, 18.08.2008, 02:50 AM.
VS

Conflict Network News - "After many setbacks in recent months, the ASF seemed to have turned a corner on their command issues, dealing a blow to the CSF forces in Kusari, and liberating two systems in the process! The fighting has now appeared to spill over into Northern Liberty, where CSF forces intend to gain further ground. Colorado, Galileo, Kepler and Sea Of Shadows systems are the setting for this most recent round of attempts to settle the factions' differences."

During the last week of each month, a unique PvP event is hosted on the Crossfire Freelancer Server, with two factions vying for control of territory in Sirius. Once reserved exclusively for server clans, this competition has now been opened to freelancers, as well.

Made up primarily of the lawful clans, the Alliance Star Fleet struggles to contain the growing threat posed by the outlaws of the Confederate Strike Force. Combat moves from sector to sector, across multiple systems, as each side tries to gain a strategic advantage over the other. Massive battles with mixed fleets of fighters and capital ships are common, sometimes lasting for hours! Scoring is done automatically by the Robotic Referee System (RRS), coded specifically for Crossfire by Master Coder DC_Haegar, using faction-specific roleplay licenses.

The next ASF/CSF event is about to begin Sunday morning, 25 August 2008, at 0000 hours GMT. Log in for a ringside seat or a place in the arena, and witness history in the making!

 [FREELANCER] Freeworlds 18.33
 Written by: SWAT_OP-R8R, 06.08.2008, 02:19 PM.

Many years have passed since the death of Emperor Palpatine at Endor. His death was a catalyst for the plucky Rebellion to become a legitimate government. However, the Galactic Civil War rages on. Despite the loss of their Emperor, the Imperials continue to fight in an effort to reclaim worlds now lost to them.

As the two galactic superpowers vie for supremacy, Organized Crime runs riot. Smugglers sneak in and out of territories, bringing illegal goods to those willing to pay top credit. The outer rim worlds are a haven for those looking to disappear.

In a time of war, mercenaries are high in demand. Immoral souls, sold to the highest bidder to do the wet work of others. Pirates raid the space lanes, preying on unsuspecting traders for credits and their booty. Alliances are forged and broken as factions attempt to gain a foothold in the galaxy.
----
Freeworlds is a Total Conversion Mod. What does that mean? Gone are all the original Freelancer stuff. Every ship, every base, every system is completely customized.

Join pilots from around the world! Whether you are from the USA, Europe or Down Under, Freeworlds has an international cast of characters for you to meet.

X-Wings, TIE fighters, YT-1300 freighters, Star Destroyers! All these ships and more. Take your pick from the ships made famous in the Star Wars saga to fly!

Have your choice of careers within a faction. Be a power trader that adds extra zero’s to your factions bank balance. Prefer to fight? Work your way up through the fighter ranks to place in a decorated squadron. Starfighters not big enough? Then try your hand at flying a capital ship bristling with turbolasers and reign down terror on your enemies.

Whether you want to be a good guy, bad guy or just a shady guy, we have a faction to suit your tastes. Currently Freeworlds supports the following factions: New Republic; Galactic Empire; Organized Crime; Corellia; Mandalorians; Pirates; Vader’s Fist Strike Force; Jedi; Sith; Krath.

Factions have the opportunity to take bases from hostile forces in weekly Territorial Engagements. Be a part of a massive battle for supremacy over who gets to lay claim to a base.

A maintenance system for factions ensures that trading never becomes redundant. Keep your faction afloat and ensure your side can afford the gruelling financial cost of war.

Multiple starter options for new players! Don’t fancy joining a faction until you are more acquainted with the server? Want to earn your ship the hard way and don’t want a handout? Well you have the choice of running cargo or heading to mineral fields to try your luck at mining.

As it stands, we are a semi-RP server. While RP is optional, it is always welcome here. The server has regular Plot Events designed to bring factions together to RP out a scenario on the server.

The Freeworlds Universe is always looking to better itself. We are never content to sit and let the galaxy pass us by. Our motivated and experienced development team is always looking for ways to improve the mod and improve the overall experience of our players!

Freeworlds 2.0 – the next generation of the mod is already well under development and will take the game to the next level. Stay tuned for updates.

The server is up and running now and ready for all who might be interrested in playing.
We have the homepage up and the forums up as well.

This server is Player vs. NPC only so we can have co-op style of play. We will be having PvP Events and several othe events planed and are taking suggestions as well.

Here are some of the features of our server.

- Cruising speed 475

- Engine Speed 120

- Max Missiles, Mines, and CM's is 120

- Player Weapons are 5x harder to blow off

- Ships, Weapons, Missiles, Mines, CM's, and Equipment can be bought at any level or reputation. If you can land on a base you can buy whatever you like if you have the credits for it.

- Beefed up all ships by 2x the Armor, Botts/Batts. Freighters 2 x the Cargo and most fighters have 5-15 more cargo depending on the ship. The Dromedary is now the best Freighter with class 10 weapons and a better power plant also. Fixed the info cards to show the right info for ships.

- Changed the Blood Dragons ships to Falcons as that is what they sale on there base now.

- Adjusted the system lighting to make it more comfortable and bring out the textures in Bases and ships. Also has dark space instead of the multi-colored space background.*

- Nomad encounters in Alaska, Omicron Alpha, Omicron Gamma Omicron Minor, A few Nomad systems, the Unknowns, and Order encounters as well.

- Added some of the equipment that was put in the game but not buyable. Added lootable/buyable Scanners and tractor beam, nomad, and order thrusters etc.

- Adjusted all weapons to a velocity of 700 as the slowest weapon

- Guns, Missiles, and Ammo has no level or reputation requirement on it so if you find a weapon or loot a weapon you will be able to buy ammo for it at anytime as well as buy it anytime as long as you have the credits for it.

- All ships have improved handling. They all turn pretty quick now including freighters.

- Made NPC shields lootable. These shields are not the player shields. They only regenerate at 5 point per sec so are useless to the player but can be sold

- Shipyards are very important now. You can only buy Scanners, Tractor Beams, and Thrusters there.

 [FREELANCER] Freelancer: Expanded Universe
 Written by: SWAT_OP-R8R, 24.07.2008, 10:09 AM.
I'd like to remember to all of the SWAT Portal members that we don't have just CF. There are more mods in production, and one of them is Freelancer: Expanded Universe. I want make of FL:EU a very good mod, or at least a remarkable mod, which the players enjoy to play. The thing is: I have only few minutes per day to deal with EU due to my real life, so I need the help from all here to release FL:EU ASAP.

What I need for now:
- Bug hunters/fixers;
- Ship modelers/texturers;
- Someone who can deal with the ALE Editor, as OP is busy and my comp doesn't support it.

Ofc I need more things, but these ones I REALLY NEED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Thanks for your attention.

 [FREELANCER] Crossfire Mod 1.8
 Written by: SWAT_OP-R8R, 17.07.2008, 08:48 AM.

It has been more than 1 1/2 years now since the Crossfire 1.7 has been released. Surprisingly this mod still belongs to the most favorite Freelancer mods with a very large fan community. Since the release of Crossfire 1.7 I have spent very much time developing new concepts and finding out how the Freelancer engine can be "manipulated" to create new stuff. The results are pretty interesting.

Since its first release Crossfire was known to be one of the most complex mods available introducing many new features to the Freelancer community. It was designed to show what possibilities and features are still possible in Freelancer and to push the game to a higher quality.
Crossfire has very advanced graphic & sound settings which will make the gameplay much more interesting. The gameplay is very balanced and challenging.
You will able to explore hundreds of systems with more than 400 new dockable stations and planets. Clans are able to buy their own clansystems and manage those like they want.
There are high profitable traderoutes which change due a dynamic economy. Also the world of Crossfire is changing alot since the mod is build to create random events such as invading Nomads and Dom'kavash or solar interferences which disturb the travel in some systems. Crossfire is an expanding world that is always in development. To a limited amount the player has real influence on the Crossfire Universe. New systems appear and can get explored. New ships are build. New equipment is going to be developed by the companies in Sirius. Everything is changing to guarantee a long time of pleasure and action.
The Crossfire mod comes along with very special features which enhance the gameplay and make this mod very special.

With Crossfire 1.8 we have improved our already very successful working cheat protection system. Also our serversided tools get a heavy update which will lead to many more interesting online features.

When I started working on Crossfire 1.8 I decided that quality has the highest priority. So I started to rebuild a large part of the vanilla content in order to show much higher details and pure eye candy. We have rebuild big parts of the Crossfire 1.7 mod (the old content) and we put much energy into building high standard models and content for Crossfire 1.8. Hundreds of objects will get a new scale of detail... most of the effects will get improved and about 1000 infocards are getting reworked in order to raise the details and the depth of gameplay (showing fantastic details about the life in Sirius).
Unlike other mods we try not to exchange textures or effects "en masse" to change the look without checking for possible side effects. Every change has been checked several times to avoid such side effects and to make sure that the original Freelancer feeling remains intact.
Same can be said about the game balance and the gameplay.
The results are incredible good looking graphics, good sounds and music samples, challenging quests and a great gameplay experience. Crossfire extends the Freelancer world with a new interesting story based on what is already known about Freelancer and Starlancer.
To sum up the task was to create the most detailed mod that has ever been build for Freelancer and we are on very good way to create something outstanding.

The release of Crossfire 1.8 is planned to be in late august 2008. You can expect to get the most detailed, most complex, most innovative and of course the most bugfree Freelancer mod that ever has been created.

You can find more information about the features and many screenshots at this page and on our forums.
